Foster Grandparent Volunteers Needed

Catholic Charities’ Foster Grandparent Program is seeking volunteers in Will County! Foster Grandparents are role models, mentors, and friends to local children with exceptional needs. The program provides a way for volunteers (age 55 and over) to stay active by serving children and youth in their communities. Sharing your time and experience can help children learn how to read, assist younger students for school readiness, tackle tough subjects and make decisions that will keep them on the right path. We’ll match your skills and passions to opportunities that interest you, including those in elementary schools, in faith-based schools, Head Start sites, and preschools.

All you need is the ability to give the kind of comfort and love that sets a child on the path toward a successful future. If you’re 55 or older and want to share your experience and compassion, you have what it takes to be a Foster Grandparent. Most volunteers serve about 20 hours a week. Foster Grandparents who are income eligible will receive a tax-free hourly stipend to help cover costs associated with volunteering. Catholic Charities will provide pre-service orientation and training to prepare you for this rewarding opportunity.
